New Thoughts on Time

I’ve had a revelation about the concept of “time”. In its most perfect state, time is not about quantity (how much of it we have or don’t have) as it is about quality (how we spend it and what we do with it). I have found that there is always time for what I cherish the most. And if I don’t cherish something I have to do, it takes discipline to make time for it. I’m learning that it’s easier to pause and find a way to love what I must do, thereby making it fit within my time constraints.

Someone once shared with me an interesting way to measure time: by the good that happens in my experience. Rather than days or years, I like the idea of advancing in life’s grand adventure according to good that I do and good that I receive, not by feeling anxious that yet another year has zoomed by or that I have missed out on certain opportunities. Focusing on good that is accomplished brings me closer to a quality of life that is not rushed or lagging. What a wonderful premise this is from which to go forward in one’s journey. It puts a spin on time that is not negative but rather progressive. It is a wake-up call to avoid complacency and idleness and move ahead with a full but rewarding agenda – all good!
