Make Room in Your Thinking
It’s easy to get bogged down by what we think is important in our life. Perhaps that is because we are making what we do more complicated than it should be. Maybe we need to re-organize our priorities and take greater care to spend the most time and energy on what best promotes our growth and the growth of those dearest to us.
I am big on believing that how I think affects my life. And so when I do a mental inventory on the state of my thinking, I ask: What am I willing to give up in order to make room in my life for growth? I ask myself this because there are days when I know growth is slowed by the amount of extra mental baggage I carry around – like taking on worry for something I don’t need to worry about or being fearful of the future.
Getting rid of “space” occupied by this heavy thinking – no matter how real or important it seems – allows better choices of thought and deed to take their productive place in my life. Sometimes it just takes becoming aware of what I am thinking to get rid of the unnecessary. That results in the right amount of activity and mental energy to do and be well.
