Inspiration from Graduation
At a recent high school graduation ceremony, the principal encouraged senior students to embrace the future from the basis of their accomplishments. What they had done up to that point of graduation, he said, would serve them well, and they should be proud of progress and lessons learned no matter how small.
While high school is long over for me, I saw the relevancy of the message in my life and in the lives of those I work with in the Villas communities. We have many accomplishments, many milestones over many years to look back on with gratitude. And these serve as a platform upon which we can embrace the future we continue to carve out each day. That future includes both major life changes and smaller daily challenges. We must remember to continue the building process and continue to reach new goals, just as we encourage younger people to do. Only then will our experiences stay fresh and meaningful.
When it comes right down to it, the beauty of life is in the building – whether we are 18 or celebrating our fifth or higher decade!
